MARINE PARKS AND RESERVES
— ESTABLISHMENT
930. Hon PETER COLLIER to
the Minister for Environment:
This question is asked on behalf of
Hon Tjorn Sibma, who is on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the Conservation and
Land Management Amendment Bill 2020.
(1) How many new marine
reserves/parks are being contemplated by the state government and where are
they located?
(2) What
consultation has occurred on the establishment of these new marine
reserves/parks and with which groups and on which occasions?
(3) When is it anticipated that
these new marine reserves/parks will be gazetted?
(4) Are these new
marine reserves/parks to be incorporated under the state government's
Plan for Our Parks policy and therefore contribute to the expansion of the
conservation estate by some five million hectares?
(5) If yes to
(4), what proportional contribution will be made by these new marine
reserves/parks towards the aforementioned objective?
