Mr. Hyde questions the Minister for Culture and the Arts regarding delays in renegotiating PICA's lease and the impact on their programming, as well as potential impacts on other arts groups within the Perth Cultural Centre. The Minister responds that PICA's lease is current and discussions are ongoing, and that no other arts groups are expected to cut back programs.

In response to my December 2010 letter to the Minister regarding the State Government’s failure to renegotiate a new lease with the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA), the Minister wrote on 11 February 2010 that considerable progress was being made in relation to this matter, with the aim of resolving land tenure in the Perth Cultural Centre as early as possible this year. Given it is now August, I ask:
(a) is the Minister aware that PICA, which was already enlivening the cultural centre, has been forced to cut programmes due to the Minister’s slow action and failure to give lease surety; and
(b) coupled with the one-day a week closures at the art gallery and museum, what other existing arts groups’ programmes within the cultural centre does the Minister expect to have to cut back, as PICA has done under the Minister’s watch?
