Can the minister confirm that the City of Stirling was refused payment by the Municipal Waste Advisory Council for waste diverted to the Atlas Calingiri farm in its assessment of claims for the resource recovery rebate for period 7 and 8 on the basis that no evidence was provided by Atlas showing reuse of the compost? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The City of Stirling has not yet been paid for waste material diverted to the Atlas farm at Calingiri during periods 7 and 8 because the material was not reused in these periods. A prolonged processing time is involved in producing compost from this material. There may also be delays because compost may be applied only at certain times in the cropping regime. However, the City of Stirling will be able to claim payment for these materials in subsequent periods, when reuse has been demonstrated.
