On behalf of the responsible parliamentary secretary, I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) A package of amendments to cultural institution legislation is being developed to modernise government arrangements. Legal deposit provisions are part of the proposed amendments to the Library Board of Western Australia Act 1951. These provisions will oblige Western Australian publishers to deposit their publications with the State Library of Western Australia. Until then, government publications are received under Premier’s circular 2007/13, and most print publishers continue to embrace the spirit of legal deposit. (2) Legislation is expected to come before Parliament as soon as possible. (3) Not applicable.
