I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(3) On Sunday, 13 October 2002 the Citation Jet, which is operated under contract by Maroomba Airlines, was used by Hon Nick Griffiths MLC, Minister for Racing and Gaming; Government Enterprises; Goldfields-Esperance. The minister was accompanied by his chief of staff, Mr Graham Burkett. From approximately midday to 5.15 pm, the minister was a guest at the Geraldton Turf Club at which he presented a trophy to the winning connections of the meeting’s feature event. While in Geraldton the minister spoke with a large cross-section of the racing-pacing fraternity about the current status of the codes and also discussed matters that related to country racing in general. I am advised that on 13 October, Maroomba Airlines was contacted about the availability of the jet for medical evacuations from Bali. The person who contacted Maroomba was gathering information only and no request for assistance was made. I am advised that if the aircraft had been required, alternative arrangements would have been made for the minister.
