(2) Not applicable (3-5) I refer the Hon Member to the answer to Question Without Notice 768 on 1 April 2003. The circumstances will be the same for gold, coal, tin and sand as is the case for bauxite. However, the areas cleared, and therefore the volumes of sawlogs removed each year, are likely to be smaller and more variable than for bauxite. (6) The Forest Products Commission's systems are not designed to answer this question with precision because they do not separate harvesting on mined areas from concurrent harvesting of forest adjacent to the mined area. However, I have asked the Forest Products Commission to provide integrated data for harvesting operations that it is aware involve gold, coal, tin and sand mining. This will take some time and I will ensure the Hon Member is provided with this data when it is available.
