URGENT CARE CLINICS — MEDREFER SMART FORM
1505. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the WA Primary Health
Alliance website for the general practitioner urgent care pilot and
specifically information relating to the MEDrefer smart form.
(1) When will the
MEDrefer smart form commence operation to allow the transfer of clinical records
to a patient's regular GP and to the University of Western Australia
evaluation team?
(2) Why was this solution not in
place and available prior to the launch of the pilot?
(3) How has the clinical handover
been occurring prior to the development of this solution?
(4) Will patient consent be sought with regard to the
sharing of de-identified clinical information to the UWA evaluation
team?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The MEDrefer
electronic smart form is being introduced in participating practices this week,
and will be fully implemented over a two-week time frame.
(2)–(3) The electronic MEDrefer smart form was still in
development at the time of launch. A paper-based clinical handover
process allowing for the transfer of clinical records to a patient's
regular GP has been in place and operational since the launch of the pilot,
with the process reverting to an electronic system effective this week.
(4) Yes.
