BUSSELTON FORESHORE REDEVELOPMENT
I refer to the state government’s proposal to develop and sell certain parcels of land in Busselton, the part proceeds of which will fund the state’s proposed $6 million contribution to the upgrade of the Busselton jetty. (1) How much money in globo will the state government receive from LandCorp and/or other agencies, including, if applicable, the Shire of Busselton, as the initial payment for the land? (2) Does the state’s offer of $6 million require the Shire of Busselton to commit to the full rebuilding of the Busselton jetty, as contained in the plans currently being developed for the shire by consultants BG&E Pty Ltd, which includes the replacement and upgrade of sections 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10 of the jetty? (3) Will the state’s offer to contribute $6 million stand if the shire is forced to reduce the scale of the rebuild as a result of cost blow-outs or funding shortfalls, or a combination of both? Hon KIM CHANCE

(1) I am advised that it is not possible to provide a figure for the first question, as the initial in globo value will be calculated in accordance with the Land Administration Act. This will require the Department for Planning and Infrastructure to obtain a valuation from the Valuer General as a basis for determining the amount to be paid by LandCorp to acquire the identified land parcels. This will occur immediately prior to the acquisition so that the values will be current. (2) No. (3) Yes.
