Fuel security—Round table meeting
123. Hon Philip Scott to
the Leader of the House representing the
Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the
government's media statement about today's fuel security round table meeting,
which states:
Discussions will also feed into the
Cook Government's ongoing engagement with the Commonwealth Government.
(1) Will the Western Australian
Government be lobbying the Commonwealth to temporarily remove the fuel excise
and if not, why not?
(2) With diesel shortages already being
reported, what is the government doing to ensure that our vital agricultural
industry has a reliable source of diesel?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) The state government is participating in
regular meetings of the National Oil Supplies Emergency Committee and engaging
with fuel suppliers and distributors on fuel availability, including as part of
the fuel sector round table. The state government will continue to explore all
options with the Commonwealth to assist in alleviating fuel concerns arising
from the conflict in the Middle East.
