Can the Minister please advise on the following with relation to the Mitchell Corporation’s Road Trains -
(1) Can you also supply a full and complete set of evidence showing that the Australian Design Rules and National Standards for Heavy Vehicles were complied with, for each and every unit in triple and superquad configurations, in respect to -
(a) compressor recovery times;
(b) brake reaction times; and
(c) the National bridging Formula?
(2) Could you provide full and complete set of evidence showing that the ball coupling used between the trailer and rigid frame gooseneck dolly is certified safe for its intended purpose, and meets all relevant Australian Design Rules and National Standards for Heavy Vehicles?
(3) Can you show evidence that the superquad configuration is able to be broken up in-situ on any road within permit conditions in the event of a road accident and/or fire to allow damaged piece/pieces to be removed from the road train configuration. Or has this safety aspect been overlooked for the sake of lowering tare weight?

(c) the National bridging Formula?
In view of the complexity and technical nature of the information sought, it is suggested that a more productive method of addressing the Honourable Member’s concerns would be through a meeting with senior agency staff. The Minister would be happy to arrange such a meeting at the Honourable Member’s convenience.
