ENGLISH - COURSE OF STUDY
I refer the minister to the special provisions committee identified by the chief executive officer of the Curriculum Council, Mr David Wood, at the 21 June 2007 budget estimates session, to identify students who may have been disadvantaged by the transition to the new English course of study. (1) Has the special provisions committee identified any students of English who have been disadvantaged by the transition to the new course of study? (2) If yes to (1), how many students have been identified? (3) If yes to (1), what strategies have been implemented to ensure that these students are not disadvantaged? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

Students who had not achieved level 4 in the English course had the opportunity to sit the English language competence test. Until these students’ results are known and the committee reconvenes in late November to consider their cases, it will not be known whether these students have been disadvantaged.
