(1) Can the Minister confirm that a review of the type A school crossing located on the corner of Grand Promenade and Craven Street, Bedford, is being undertaken?
(2) If yes;
(a) have police visited the Grand Promenade-Craven Street school crossing to count the number of children who used the crossing on that day;
(b) on what day, and at what time, was the survey conducted;
(c) how many children were counted using the crossing on the day that the survey was conducted;
(d) will a second survey be conducted; and
(e) if so, when?
(3) Is it a criterion that a type A school crossing requires a minimum of at least 20 children to use it?
(4) Is vehicle speed taken into account when a school crossing is reviewed?
(a) if not, why not?
(5) If vehicle speed is taken into account when a school crossing is reviewed, can the Minister outline how the criterion is applied?
(6) Is the Minister aware that Grand Promenade is a four-lane major arterial road which, according to Main Roads figures collected in March, 2008, carries between 16,000 and 18,000 vehicles a day?
(7) Is the Minister aware that, according to Main Roads figures collected in March, 2008, 65 per cent of vehicles travelling in an eastbound direction, just west of Catherine Street, were recorded exceeding the 60kmh speed limit?
(8) Is the Minister aware that of the 65 per cent of vehicles recorded exceeding the 60kmh speed limit, some 9 per cent were recorded travelling between 70kmh and 80kmh?
(9) In making a decision as to whether or not the Grand Promenade-Craven Street school crossing should retain or lose its crossing guard, will the School Crossing and Road Safety Committee take into account the fact that Grand Promenade is a four-lane major arterial road used by significant volumes of traffic, the majority of which is exceeding the speed limit; and
(a) if not, why not?

(b) First survey was conducted on 12 November, 2008 from 0745 to 0845 hours and another afternoon survey was conducted on 25 November from 1445 to 1545 hours.
(c) There were 9 primary school children counted on the morning of 12 November, 2008 and 10 primary school children counted on the afternoon of 25 November, 2008.
(d) Yes
(e) Second survey was conducted on the morning of 2 December, 2008. The afternoon survey is listed for term one of 2009.
