I have a supplementary question. In addition to the changed protocols, will the minister today undertake to provide the Bunbury Regional Hospital with the additional resources it needs to upgrade and improve its theatre facilities? Mr J.A. McGINTY

It is not an issue of resources. As I have indicated, the issue that the member raised was the availability of a surgeon. A surgeon was available. There was an internal failure in communication. It is not a question of resources. There is the capacity to employ and pay an additional surgeon to properly deal with these matters. It is not a question of the availability of beds or operating theatres. It was a two-fold problem. One problem was internal communication. It is my belief that serious medical issues of this nature should be able to be dealt with adequately locally. The Government will provide the resources to do that.
