(a-d) In 2023-24, there were 45 incidents recorded in the Western Australia Police Force’s (WAPF) internal Professional Case Management System, across all WAPF employees (i.e. including non-sworn employees). Being flagged as “involved” in a Family Violence (FV) incident may include WAPF employees flagged as victims.
The WA Police Force does not have a formal ‘conflict of interest’ process. When misconduct of a police employee is suspected, the WA Police Force’s Internal Affairs Unit is notified, and all incidents are investigated thoroughly to determine what action is required. In 2023-24, 1 police officer was charged with offences relating to FV – actions taken against other alleged perpetrators included employees being Stood Down, Stood Aside or Suspended, and the serving of Family Violence Restraining Orders.
(e) The WA Police is unable to provide the level of detail requested due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the matters in question. The information sought relates to operational sensitivities and/or personal information where disclosure of the location could reasonably be expected to impact the privacy and safety of individuals involved.
