❓ A WA parliamentary question on notice requests detailed staffing information (FTE and part-time) including qualifications and positions within the Child Protection portfolio for 2005, 2006, and the current date. The answer provides some numbers but largely declines to provide qualification details due to data collection limitations and resource constraints.

(1) The number of full time employees in 2005 was 7.
(2) During 2005 and 2006 the department's centralised system for the collection of human resource data did not automatically record qualification details. To report on the qualifications of employees during that period, which would include those who have left the Department's employment, would require the diversion of significant resources for manual collation. I am not prepared to divert resources in order to meet this request.
Since March 2007, following the Ford Review, new child protection workers required tertiary qualifications. In a minority of cases exemptions from this have been granted. From March 2007 the qualifications of newly employed staff in these positions began to be centrally recorded.
(3) The number of part time employees in 2005 was 0
(4) This question is not applicable as there were no part time employees in 2005
(5) The number of full time employees in 2006 was 8.
(6) Refer to response number 2.
(7) The number of part time employees in 2006 was 0.
(8) This question is not applicable as there were no part time employees in 2006
(9) The number of current full time employees is 8.
(10) Since March 2007, all essential tertiary qualifications for new employees began to be centrally recorded. In a minority of cases exemptions have been granted, these and the reasons for doing also began to be centrally recorded. Qualification details have not always been centrally recorded for staff employed prior to March 2007. The Department has experienced considerable growth in the number of field staff during 2007 and this has contributed to a back-log in the entry of data regarding staff qualifications. It is not possible at this time to report on qualification for positions as asked.
(11) The number of current part time employees is 0.
(12) This question is not applicable as there are currently no part time employees.
