ELIZABETH QUAY WATER PARK — WATER TESTING
71. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Planning:
I refer to the Premier's
claims today that further water testing was undertaken on the day of the
opening of the Elizabeth Quay water park on 29 January.
(1) Given that in
an answer provided yesterday the minister confirmed that the only days on which
water testing was undertaken prior to the opening were 21, 25, 26 and 28
January, can the minister confirm that no further testing was undertaken on 29
January?
(2) Can the
minister confirm that the Premier was incorrect in the claims he made today in
this chamber?
(3) Can the
minister also confirm that no water testing was undertaken prior to the opening
of the Elizabeth Quay water park on 5 February for two to three hours?

The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority has been complying with the protocols
in place as directed by the Department of Health. The Minister for Health would
be able to explain that more fully than I, because it is directly within the
health portfolio. As I made clear in debate earlier today, public safety has
been paramount, and the MRA is taking the direction and the advice of the
Department of Health in relation to the operation of the water park at
Elizabeth Quay, and that will always be the case.
