848. Hon CHARLES SMITH to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to my question without notice asked on 31 March 2020
regarding the number of ventilators in WA hospitals and the number on order.
(1) How many ventilators does the state currently have?
(2) How many beds are available to deal with a second wave of
a COVID-19 outbreak?
(3) How many new wards have been developed to deal with a second
wave of a COVID-19 outbreak?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The state has a total of 1 152 ventilators.
(2) There are 647 ventilated beds, 8 631 general beds,
1 174 mental health beds and 832 emergency department beds available
across the system should there be a COVID-19 outbreak.
(3) Beds will be reconfigured according to operational needs
should there be a COVID-19 outbreak.
