Minister for Police:
I
refer to the answer to my question without notice on 20 August 2024 that
revealed that 30 return to prison warrants have been outstanding for
more than 12 months.
(1) Is the
minister aware that on 26 June 2024, the Commissioner of Police informed the
Standing Committee on Estimates and Financial Operations that he has been an
long-time advocate for the public release of the names of such individuals to
assist the public to come forward with information?
(2) Will the
minister release any information about any of those 30 offenders?
(3) If yes to
(2), can the minister please provide in tabular form the name, age, sex and
other information that would assist members of the community to aid in the
apprehension of these 30 long-term fugitives?
(4) If no to (2),
will the minister table a section 82 notice under the Financial Management Act
so that the Auditor General may inquire into this non-provision of information
to Parliament?
