WATER SUPPLY NEEDS — GREAT SOUTHERN 27. Mr D.T. REDMAN to the Minister for Water Resources: I have a supplementary question. What guarantee can the minister give these communities that they will not be in the same situation next year, especially given this is the second successive year that water has been carted into Walpole—now from 100 kilometres away? Mr J.C. KOBELKE

AnswerView source ↗

As I indicated, the Water Corporation is having that water carted but that cost is not being passed on to the local residents. We will make sure that the people of those towns continue to be provided with the required water and waste water facilities. Mr D.T. Redman : And growth? Mr J.C. KOBELKE : Clearly, when growth occurs in areas it raises another problem about meeting the demand, and we will make sure that we address that demand.
