(5) What funds have been allocated in 2009-10 to recruit more participants for apprenticeships and traineeships?

(4) Funding is allocated on an ongoing basis for 4 Indigenous trainees. The department will shortly be recruiting for Indigenous trainees.
As part of workforce planning and succession planning activities, together with diversity group employment priorities (particularly Indigenous Australians and youth), the engagement of trainees is encouraged across the department. These trainees are in addition to the allocated funding above.
There is an ongoing need for one apprentice with the experimental workshop. The current apprentice will complete his apprenticeship in June 2010 and accordingly the department will shortly be recruiting for an apprentice.
(5) $126,000 for salaries and recruitment costs for four trainees and an apprentice allocated over a full financial year.
