and Surf Life Saving Western Australia to provide swimming beach patrols at
Hillarys Boat Harbour?

and times are encompassed by the term ''summer period'' referred

(3) What level of
proficiency in first aid is required of the security staff who conduct the foot
patrols at Hillarys Boat Harbour?
(4) At what times during the week
are the foot patrols active?
(5) Does the level of activity for

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The
department provides an operations facility for Surf Life Saving WA. The City of
Joondalup provides funding to SLSWA to provide paid lifeguards on weekdays and
volunteers from the Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club on weekends and public
holidays.
(2) Dates are
5 December 2016 to 3 March 2017 for the upcoming summer period. Times are from
10.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on weekends and
public holidays.
(3) They require senior first aid certification.
(4)–(5)
Foot patrols are active 365 days per year. The harbour patrol schedule is
planned according to the level of activity at the harbour. This takes into
account the peak periods, school holidays, public holidays, special events,
winter and off-peak times. From 1 December to 31 January each year, the active
patrols take place 24 hours per day.
