MENTAL HEALTH — STEP-UP, STEP-DOWN FACILITY —
KARRATHA
775. Hon PETER COLLIER to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Mental Health:
I
refer to the step-up, step-down facility in Karratha, originally proposed by
the Mental Health Commission in 2013 and allocated in the 2015–16
budget.
(1) Is the Labor
government committed to the establishment of the step-up, step-down facility in
Karratha; and, if not, why not?
(2) If yes, when will it be
established?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Health.
(1)–(2) The
state government remains committed to delivering the Karratha step-up,
step-down facility and is continuing to progress the project. Noting that the
community has previously rejected a proposal for the facility, the Mental
Health Commission is holding a community consultation event today.
