(3) What steps have been taken to review the decision in relation to other schools which have lost their crosswalk attendants? (4) What is the total budget for 2000-01 for crosswalk attendants, and how much of it is a contribution from the road trauma trust fund? Hon PETER FOSS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(3) When notification has been sent out indicating that crossing attendants will be removed, the Minister for Police will consider those on a case-by-case basis if the school provides information about why the crossing should be exempt from the criteria. When the review is completed, there will be no change to the status of a school crossing without prior consultation with the school, the principal and the school community, including the local parents and citizens association. Accordingly, no changes have been finalised at this point and the outcome of the review is dependent on this process. (4) Approximately $2.5m. No funding is provided by the road trauma trust fund.
