GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS —
HUAWEI
19. Dr M.D. NAHAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. In
the face of overwhelming evidence that Huawei is a security risk, why will the
government not cancel the contract?

AnswerView source ↗

As I said before, the World Bank put
some steps in place in relation to John Holland, and the former government
entered into a contract. In fact, the member for Bateman signed a contract with
John Holland post that occurring. The opposition should be careful about
throwing stones on this sort of issue. We are investigating whether the company
can deliver its obligations under the arrangement it entered into, and we will
obviously await that advice.
