I refer to the recent decision by federal Minister for Trade, Mark Vaile, to launch negotiations on a Malaysia-Australia free trade agreement following the completion of parallel scoping studies. (1) How did the Western Australian government contribute to the federal government’s scoping study into this agreement and would the minister please table any relevant submissions? (2) Did the WA government consult with any industry and community groups when developing its response to the scoping study? If so, please provide details. (3) Has the WA government conducted an economic, social and environmental impact assessment of the Malaysia-Australia FTA? (4) If no to (3), does it intend to do so?
