The Grain Marketing Bill 2002, proclaimed on 31 October 2002, provided for the establishment of the Grain Licensing Authority by the appointment by the minister of five members, of which two are to be grain producers. The farming community has put forward the names of two people to fill those positions, however the minister is yet to appoint either of them to the GLA. (1) Can the minister please advise what is causing the delay in appointing these grain producers to fill the positions on the GLA? (2) If there are problems or concerns with the ability or suitability of either of the nominated producers, can the minister please advise what these problems or concerns are?
