KALGOORLIE HEALTH CAMPUS — MRI MACHINE
763. Hon ROBIN SCOTT to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
On 12 April 2019, the minister
announced government funding for an MRI machine at Kalgoorlie Health Campus.
(1) Can the
minister update the chamber as to what exactly has been done in the four months
since the announcement was made?
(2) Has the process been put out to
tender?
(3) Has an approach been made to companies or other
entities that specialise in the construction of MRI machines?
(4) Does the
government remain determined to drag out the process to the full 30 months that
it said it would take to give the people of Kalgoorlie this critical piece of
medical infrastructure?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Since the
funding announcement, a functional brief has been developed and approved. A
draft project definition plan and schematic design report have been developed,
and detailed design consultation has been completed.
(2) Tenders are currently
anticipated to be called at the end of November 2019.
(3) The Department of Health has advertised a tender
for MRI machines from which the purchase of an MRI machine for
Kalgoorlie Health Campus will be made.
(4) Health will
comply with relevant policy, procedures and processes, not least during the
design, development and tender process. This
will result in a good outcome for the people of Kalgoorlie and will be
value for money. This process will be worked through as quickly as possible.
