Forced adoptions
921. Hon Nick Goiran to
the minister representing the Minister for Child
Protection:
I refer to the media
statement on Sunday 19 October 2025 entitled "15 years since WA's apology
for past forced adoption practices". In this, the minister is quoted as
saying:
We are making good progress on the
supported recommendations outlined in Report 66 — Broken Bonds,
Fractured Lives: Report on the Inquiry into Past Forced Adoption in Western
Australia and are committed to ensuring the remaining supported recommendations
are implemented.
(1) Is the minister aware that the government
rejected several key recommendations from the inquiry?
(2) Is the minister aware that the government deferred
consideration of 14 other recommendations?
(3) Given that it has now been more than a year
since the Standing Committee on Environment and Public Affairs tabled its report,
how many recommendations have had little or no progress after all this time?
(4) Which ones are they?
