I thank the member for some notice of this question. I am sure the work will be very productive. In January this year the Premier announced the allocation of a further $4 million to the Swan River Trust to undertake foreshore restoration and protection work. This was in addition to a program that we promised when in opposition and which has been in practice since 2001. I am delighted at this further injection of moneys into a worthwhile program. The 2004-05 funding round is now open. Local governments and the community are asked to tender projects for this funding round with an emphasis on foreshore restoration and stopping erosion along the Canning and Swan Rivers. This year priority will be given to sites that demonstrate partnership arrangements with the local community, good community participation, best practice management of the project and innovation in the proposal that has been put forward. On top of that, we will consider projects presented by local governments that implement regional plans as well as work for their local areas. As I said, this funding round is now open and will close on 9 July. In addition to the moneys set aside for this funding round, some money will be held for any emergency foreshore protection issues that arise before the subsequent funding round. Recently, I have visited these projects in North Fremantle, Melville and East Fremantle. I am impressed with the local governments that have got on board with the program, the work of all the officers and the way in which the community has been involved. I look forward to receiving a lot of worthy applications and for more worthy projects to be rolled out at the end of the year.
