SCREENWEST CEO —
SEPH MCKENNA — DEPARTURE
956. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Minister for Culture and the Arts:
I have a supplementary question.
The SPEAKER : Yes, when
everyone is quiet.
Mr R.S. LOVE : I believe that
it is the minister's birthday, so congratulations and happy birthday.
Given that Screenwest is supported
by the state government, can the minister guarantee that no taxpayer money was
used for any exit payment for Mr McKenna?

Thank you for the birthday wishes; I
appreciate that. It is very kind of you.
The SPEAKER : Minister, to the
point.
Mr D.A. TEMPLEMAN : As I have
highlighted, it is an independent board. The government, of course, assists
with funding the screen industry in a range of ways, including through
Lotterywest. There is a recognition that that entity needs to have a sense of
independence because it comprises experts who make decisions about the films
that are made and the documentaries that are supported. I have great faith in
the board of Screenwest.
Mr D.T. Redman interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for
Warren–Blackwood!
Mr D.A. TEMPLEMAN : I am sure
that it will make a very appropriate decision about the chief executive officer
of that organisation.
