I thank the member for some notice of this question. Members will be aware that I have spoken at length recently about the support in the community and the industry for the government’s position and strategy on the supply of domestic gas. We have had further support today for our policy from a new group called the DomGas Alliance. The DomGas Alliance includes Alinta, Alcoa, NewGen Power, Synergy and Perth Energy. The DomGas Alliance will be chaired by the Dampier to Bunbury pipeline executive chairman, Mr Stuart Hohnen. The alliance will be a voice for domestic gas consumers, particularly industry consumers. We look forward to working with the alliance. We believe that the alliance is long overdue in terms of supporting the government’s position for the security of domestic gas supplies. I will quote Mr Hohnen on the DomGas Alliance - Gas is a cornerstone component of Western Australia’s fuel mix. We are pleased that the State Government has opened up this debate and look forward to discussions with all stakeholders on policies impacting on the whole gas supply chain. I bring to the attention of the Parliament that the Premier is having ongoing discussions with all the relevant upstream parties that supply gas. The government reiterates its support for the future export of LNG from Western Australia. It is critical to our economy. Nevertheless, we have to ensure our own domestic gas supplies if we are to grow our economy. We support the emergence into the debate of the DomGas Alliance.
