Given the Premier’s recent comment about his commitment to “follow through”, I remind the Premier that it is public knowledge that the Premier was present at a Labor Party meeting at which discussions centred on serious allegations of corruption and allegations that false information had been provided to the Industrial Relations Commission. Since the Minister for Police appears unwilling to refer the details of these allegations to proper authorities for investigation, will the Premier follow through and uphold the standards of propriety expected of a Government and personally ensure that the allegations are referred to proper authorities for investigation? Follow through, Premier; let us see some follow through. Dr G.I. GALLOP

I was asked this question in Albany and I answered it. I was asked this question in this Parliament and I answered it. The first responsibility of the Australian Labor Party in respect of these issues is to find the facts. That is our responsibility, and we will do that. Do members opposite want to talk about all the goings on in the Liberal Party? The members for South Perth and Churchlands could tell a good story, I am sure. The member for Vasse has offered to tell a good story about that. Do not talk to me about follow through. Let us have a little discussion about follow through in respect of Western Power. The Leader of the Opposition said on radio yesterday that there were absolutely no problems whatsoever with Western Power giving money to the Australian Services Union to campaign against the Labor Government’s policies. Mr C.J. Barnett: Did I say that? Dr G.I. GALLOP: I think that is what you said. What did you say, then, my friend? Several members interjected. The SPEAKER: Order! Dr G.I. GALLOP: The Leader of the Opposition has a lot of questions to answer about his role in a campaign against the Government of Western Australia carried through by Western Power. We will continue to press him about that. Mr R.F. Johnson: Where are your standards? Dr G.I. GALLOP: I will tell members opposite about my standards. As I have said in this Parliament and in Albany, when the facts reveal that matters need to be sent to the appropriate authorities, that will happen. This Government will make sure it finds out the facts of these matters.
