(1) Approximately 1970.
(2) Yes. In 2001 form MR 72 (Civilian Crash Report) and the P 72 (Police Crash Report) were merged together into one document named a P 72 (Traffic Crash Report) to simplify matters and make data more accessible.
On 17 November 2006 the P72 was reviewed and amended to improve the quality of information in the crash database. The crash information collected was for investigation purposes and on behalf of other government agencies (Insurance Commission WA, WA Police and Main Roads WA). The amended P72 form:
· Ensures that traffic crashes need only be reported once.
· Provides a more accurate view of the total crashes which occur within Western Australia.
· Incorporates the requirements of each agency.
· Provides a greater capacity for the agencies (Insurance Commission WA, WA Police and Main Roads WA) to share 'real time' data, which assists in improving the timeliness of each agency's intervention.
A recent change to the reporting process is that the new report is now available on the Police website. Checking of the P-72 for content as well as the signing and witnessing of the report is to be completed at the police station.
