I refer to the then Health Minister's announcement on December 30, 2020 titled 'Baby joy for expectant mums in hospital milestone'. and I ask : (a) How many full-time equivalent (FTE) registered nurses are currently employed at the Osborne Park Maternity Assessment Unit; (b) How many FTE midwives are currently employed at the Osborne Park Maternity Assessment Unit; (c) How many other FTE medical staff are currently employed at the Osborne Park Maternity Assessment Unit, please provide a breakdown by employment classification eg. Senior Registered Nurse; (d) How many patients in total, have been serviced by the facility since its opening; (e) What is the total capacity of the facility, in terms of patients that are able to be serviced at any one time; (f) How many patients are currently being serviced by the facility; (g) What is the total operating cost of the facility, please provide a breakdown by line item of each individual expense; and (h) What is the total cost of the facility to date, please provide a breakdown by line item of each individual expense?

(a) Not applicable as the Maternity Assessment Unit is staffed by midwives.
(b) 19 FTE currently work between the Assessment Unit and the Birthing Suite.  Staff work interchangeably between the two services.
(c) Medical cover is provided by Visiting Medical Practitioners (VMP) on a fee for service basis including Consultant Obstetricians that work across the Birthing Suite, Ward and the Assessment Unit.
(d) From the 4 January 2021 to 13 September 2024;16,083.
(e) There is capacity to treat 7 patients at a time in the Assessment Unit.
(f) In the 8 days from 5 September 2024 to 12 September 2024, the unit saw an average of 18 patients in a day.
(g) The total direct cost of the Assessment Unit and Birthing Suite in 2023/24 is $10.3M including $4.05M for salaries and wages and $6.25M for other goods and services.  The costs associated with the Assessment Unit are not captured separately from the Birthing Suite due to the model of service delivery across both areas.
(h) The total direct cost of the Assessment Unit and Birthing Suite from January 2021 to August 2024 is $34M including $13.1M for salaries and wages and $20.9M for other goods and services.  The costs associated with the Assessment Unit are not captured separately from the Birthing Suite due to the model of service delivery across both areas.
