QuestionView source ↗
I refer to a meeting on Tuesday, 4 February with members of the Raffles action group and the Heritage Council of WA. (1) Has the Heritage Council advised the minister that it was unable to describe how it had assessed all aspects of cultural heritage, as detailed in the Raffles heritage registration document and as required by the Heritage Act? (2) Will the minister table in the House this week the full cultural heritage assessment for the Raffles redevelopment as well as the full cultural heritage assessments for the Heathcote and Sunset sites? (3) If no to (1) and (2), will the minister fulfil her role under section 69 of the Heritage Act by placing an injunction on any sale or development of the Heathcote and Sunset sites and any development of the Raffles site until full cultural heritage assessments have been carried out on the three sites? Dr J.M. EDWARDS

I thank the member for the question. I also thank her for her interest in these issues and for bringing her local people to see me on 4 February. (1)-(3) I am happy to table whatever documents the Heritage Council has regarding full cultural heritage assessments. Following our meeting on 14 February, I have had further discussions with the Heritage Council to clarify some of those very important points that the member and her groups raised. I am happy, though, that the Heritage Council has examined these issues in the proper detail that it should have. I have made sure that it has sent further notes and reports to me. I am a little unclear about exactly what documents the member is requesting, but I am happy to talk to her afterwards, and I will try to table exactly what she wants.
