I refer to the Cristal Global site in Australind, and I ask —
(1) Given the Minister is currently considering an extension of the lease for the chemical company Cristal Global for another 25 years, will he provide an assurance that there is a thorough review of the health and ecological risks associated with the contamination of this site during this process?
(2) Will the Minister take into account reports from the Department of Environment and Conservation on the levels of contamination on the site and the company's efforts to remediate this contamination?

(1) I refer the Member to the response given to Question on Notice 5732. The review of the health and ecological risks falls under the
Contaminated Sites Act 2003
(CSA) which is administered by the Minister for Environment through the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC).
(2) All leases issued pursuant to the
Land Administration Act 1997
where there is a risk of contamination include clauses for managing that risk. The levels of contamination and remediation of the site will continue to be monitored by DEC and be administered under the CSA.
