270. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
minister representing the Minister for Water:
(1) How much did
it cost the Water Corporation to move to bimonthly billing from the start of
the project until 30 June 2014?
(2) How much does
the Water Corporation anticipate the move to bimonthly billing to cost in 2014–15,
2015–16, 2016–17 and 2017–18?
(3) How much
additional per annum does the Water Corporation anticipate bimonthly billing
will cost due to recently announced increases in Australia Post charges?

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) It cost $2.676 million.
(2) The move
to bimonthly billing is estimated to cost the Water Corporation an additional
$4.3 million a year in each of 2014–15, 2015–16, 2016–17
and 2017–18 in direct operating impacts. The estimated savings from
moving to two-monthly billing is $9.5 million per annum.
(3) It will
cost $250 000 across all types of mailings. It is not possible in the time
allowed to dissect the succinct costs of two-monthly billing.
