I refer to the video of a Maserati Quattroporte Sedan with a licence plate “FORFEITED” on the WA Police Facebook page, posted on the 1st of April, and I ask: (a) What is the primary purpose of this vehicle in its current form; (b) Has WA Police ever undertaken a similar initiative with forfeited vehicles in the past; (c) From which part of the WA Police budget were the costs associated with this vehicle drawn; (d) Was a cost-benefit analysis undertaken before deciding to wrap and showcase this vehicle; (e) If “yes” to question (d), will you please provide this analysis; (f) Has the WA Police or the State Government received any corporate or third-party sponsorship in the promotion or presentation of this vehicle; (g) How much did it cost to wrap this vehicle in WA Police insignia, emblems and any other symbols; (h) Is the vehicle fitted out with any operational equipment (e.g. sirens, radio systems, etc.); (i) If the answer to (h) is yes, how much did this fit out cost; and (j) Does the WA Police Force intend to operationalise this vehicle, sell it, crush it or return it to its owner?

(a) The primary purpose of the Maserati Quattroporte sedan initiative is to serve as a visible educational/awareness tool to promote road safety throughout Western Australia, specifically highlighting the serious consequences associated with excessive speeding and reckless driving, known as “hoon behaviour”.

(c) The costs associated with the Maserati initiative were drawn from existing budgets within the WA Police Force.
