(1) $2.5million from the State Government's Royalties for Regions program has been provided for the upgrade and purchase of new medical equipment for the WA Country Health Service - Pilbara including Newman Hospital.
(2) No. Newman Hospital has a full time position for a Senior Radiographer and an ultrasonographer visits weekly. Radiography services were interrupted for a short time over the Christmas and New Year period. However, local Newman nurses with X-ray certificates provided services during that period.
(3) Newman Hospital's Medical Imaging Department achieved full RANZCR/NATA Accreditation status in 2010. The Department has a full complement of medical imaging equipment including an ultrasound machine provided in 2005 which will be due for replacement in 2015.
