I refer to the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) over the 2012–2013 financial year, and ask: (a) how much money has been spent by the State government in total on PATS claims; (b) what was the total number of PATS claims (including PATS claims for interstate travel) that were approved; (c) how many of these claims were for intrastate travel, and how many were for interstate travel; (d) can the Minister provide a breakdown of the number of approved PATS claims by region for the last financial year; (e) what was the average amount received per PATS claim; (f) what was the maximum amount payable per PATS claim towards paid overnight accommodation (per night); (g) what was the average amount reimbursed per PATS claim towards paid overnight accommodation (per night); (h) what was the average actual, or costs paid by patients for paid overnight accommodation (per night); (i) what was the maximum amount payable for any individual PATS claim towards transport costs; (j) what is the average amount reimbursed per PATS claim towards transport; and (k) what was the average actual costs paid by patients for transport per PATS claim?

Private home accommodation: $20 per night for an eligible applicant or $40 per night for an applicant travelling with an approved escort.
Commercial accommodation: up to $60 per night for an eligible applicant or up to $75 per night for an eligible applicant travelling with an approved escort.
The accommodation subsidy is only payable for six (6) consecutive months.
(g) $59.
(h) Data is not recorded for the total actual costs paid by patients for overnight accommodation.
(i) The maximum amount payable for any individual PATS trip towards transport costs is dependent upon the mode of travel and whether an escort is required.
(j) $368 per trip.
