I refer to
The West Australian
article of 22 February 2006 titled ‘Copycat Booze Bus Bolters are a Worry’ where the Attorney General said ‘he would monitor the situation and if it became a significant problem he would look at whether laws to punish those dumping cars near booze buses were adequate’, and ask -
(1) Has the Police Minister and/or his Department had contact from the Attorney General and/or his office requesting details concerning the number of ‘booze bus runners’?
(2) If so, for data that is available, please provide details of -
(a) the number of people who have run from a booze bus;
(b) whether attempts were made to catch the runner/s; and
(c) whether charges were laid in regard to the running from a booze bus?
(3) If no data is kept, can you please provide details of when the data will begin being kept; and collected so the Attorney General can make an accurate assessment as to whether it is a ‘significant problem’?
