RYAN CLEGG
— BAIL CONDITIONS
489. Mr M. McGOWAN to the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the convicted sex offender Ryan Trevor Clegg who
was released on bail only to take up residence within close proximity to both a
childcare centre and a primary school.
(1) Did the
minister and her office first become aware that this offender was in breach of
his bail conditions last week?
(2) Upon learning about this situation, what steps did the
minister take in relation to this matter?

(1)–(2)
I thank the Leader of the Opposition for the question. I am advised that on
Friday police became aware that Mr Clegg was in breach of his bail conditions
with respect to where he was residing and made an application to the court to
have the bail conditions reviewed. Subsequent to that, the media were advised
and Mr Clegg is now back in custody.
