I justified that; I think have just said it. I do not know
what else the member wants me to say. The compensation claim was for the
development of nib Stadium.
Ms R. Saffioti :
But they owed taxpayers money.
The SPEAKER :
Member for West Swan!
Mr T.K. WALDRON :
Just listen to me.
Several members interjected.
Mr T.K. WALDRON : I
think all of the public of Western Australia was aware of the compensation
claim, because it was in the papers and everywhere. My colleagues were
certainly aware of it and I made that decision because that was the bid that
came to me for compensation. My department went through it. It consulted with
Treasury and it consulted with the State Solicitor's Office. Before I
got the advice, the department confirmed it had done that, and I got the advice
and I took what I think is a very good decision.
