Does the minister see any future for himself in cabinet if his colleagues decide to reject the gas option and support tidal power? Mr BARNETT

That question is hardly worth answering. As I said last evening, if the negotiations are concluded successfully and if I concur with them, I will take a recommendation to Cabinet. Dr Gallop: Will you look at the contract? Mr BARNETT: I will look at the contract and what is proposed. I would be irresponsible not to do that. A recommendation to Cabinet by a minister should have the support of the minister. I will have to be convinced. Cabinet will have the option of agreeing with the recommendation or rejecting it. Mr Ripper: Or of substituting another decision. Mr BARNETT: I do not believe that a coalition Cabinet would do that.
