A WA parliamentary question on notice requests information on the number of computers reported stolen or lost from the Ministry of Justice between 1997 and 2000. The Minister's response indicates that compiling the data would require a manual search of records and requests the question be put on notice again.

How many computers have been reported stolen or lost in the Ministry of Justice in - (a) 1997-98; (b) 1998-99; and (c) 1999-2000? Hon PETER FOSS

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question. Asset items that are lost or stolen from the ministry are reported to the assets area and the details of the item, the circumstances, and other information, such as the police report number, are recorded. These reports and follow-up action are compiled on a file. At the end of each year a new file is commenced. Two computers have been reported stolen in the 2000-01 year to date. To compile the figures on computers lost or stolen for past years would require a manual clerical process to retrieve the information from those past year files. If the member wishes the details for the past years, I ask that she put the question on notice.
