Referring to the prescribed burns in Flybrook forest block and Greater Hawke National Park and the unplanned fire in the Donnelly River area in late 2010 and early 2011, I ask -
(1) In relation to the Prescribed Burn No. DP008 in Flybrook forest block and Greater Hawke National Park -
(a) how many hectares are within the planned burn area;
(b) on what days in 2010 and 2011 was fire applied to the planned burn area;
(c) how many hectares have now been burnt within the burn area;
(d) what percentage of the forested area was crown scorched;
(e) what is the total dollar cost of the prescribed burn within the burn area;
(f) does the burn area of DP008 adjoin the D`Entrecasteaux National Park; and
(g) if yes to (f), how long is the joint boundary?
(2) In regard to the unplanned Donnelly Fire that started in the D`Entrecasteaux National Park on 28 December 2010 and threatened people staying in huts on the Donnelly River -
(a) what is the identifying description for this fire;
(b) has the cause of this fire been established;
(c) was the likely cause an escape of fire from Prescribed Burn DP008;
(d) how many hectares had this unplanned fire burned up to 5 January 2011;
(e) how many hectares in total have now been burned by this unplanned fire;
(f) what fire fighting personnel and equipment was used in gaining control of this unplanned fire;
(g) what is the total cost to date of suppression of this unplanned fire; and
(h) of the total costs in (g), please specify the costs through -
(i) overtime and allowances;
(ii) accommodation;
(iii) travel and food;
(iv) contract machinery;
(v) aircraft costs;
(vi) heavy fleet;
(vii) light fleet; and
(viii) other items?
(3) What was total number of hectares within the combined burn area for Prescribed Burn DP008 and the Donnelly Fire?
(4) What percentage of the total burn area in (3) has been fully crown scorched?
(5) What species of threatened flora and fauna and/or threatened ecological communities are known to be within the total burn area for Prescribed Burn DP008 and the Donnelly Fire?
(6) What species of threatened flora and fauna and/or threatened ecological communities known to be within the total burn area were burnt or affected by Prescribed Burn DP008 and the Donnelly Fire?
(7) What species of threatened flora and fauna and/or threatened ecological communities known to be within the total burn area were not burnt or affected by Prescribed Burn DP008 and the Donnelly Fire?

(c) Approximately 7 958 hectares (including small unburnt areas that have not been mapped).
(d) This has not been determined.  No satellite imagery has been interrogated to date.
(e) DEC does not specifically cost individual prescribed burns and is therefore unable to provide a cost for the burn.
