Noting the advice in a letter
to the Hon Brad Pettitt and Hon Tim Clifford, dated 09 October 2025, regarding a Family
Court matter, which refers to the eCourts portal as being the only way any
correspondence relating to a party's case is to be submitted, we ask: (a) what provisions or allowances are able to be made for people with disabilities that impact their reading and writing comprehension?

a) The Family Court of Western Australia Registry has a self-serve kiosk that is available from 9am to 4pm each weekday. It can be used to prepare, scan and upload Court documents and correspondence through the eCourts Portal of Western Australia. A Customer Service Officer is available to assist with any procedural questions and assistance in lodging documents.
The Legal Aid Duty Lawyer Service and the Family Advocacy and Support Service are services also available on site and can assist people with a disability.
Disability Legal WA provides a service for people with disabilities, assisting a person with a disability to access legal help and assigning a support worker to assist in navigating court processes if required.
