I refer to the increase in the number of persons employed in the Western Australian public service as indicated by the 2004 report. This report indicates that the number of persons employed by the Department of Treasury and Finance increased from 475 in June 2003 to 597 in June 2004 - a 25 per cent increase - and to 641 by December 2004, which represents an overall increase of 35 per cent over the 18-month period.
