Attorney General representing the Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the Acting Minister for
Corrective Services' media statement of 2 June 2016 in relation to the
preferred operator of the new women's remand and reintegration
facility.
(1) What was the
total cost of the contract to engage Futurewise in the internal cost model bid
for the new facility?
(2) Was an expression of interest or
public tendering process conducted?
(3) Will the
minister provide the full list of criteria used for assessing the bids and
explain how Sodexo met the criteria?
(4) What was the
public bid for the facility, and what was the cost difference between that bid
and Sodexo's bid?
(5) How many other bids were
received for the operation of the new facility?

Corrective Services, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The estimated contract value for
the Futurewise engagement was $1.5 million including GST.
(2) No. An exemption to directly engage Futurewise
was sought from, and endorsed by, the Department of Finance.
(3)–(5) The
state has entered into negotiations with Sodexo. The state is unable to comment
further until the contract has been awarded. It is expected negotiations will
be complete in late July.
