I refer to mosquito control funding and the Contiguous Local Authority Group (CLAG), and ask: (a) how much funding was allocated to mosquito control in the 2015-16 State Budget; (b) did CLAG receive any funding requests from the Peel Region in the 2014-2015 financial year, and if so who were the recipients and how much funding did the recipients recieve; (c) how was CLAG funding, and any other sources of mosquito control funding spent in the Peel Region in 2014-2015; and (d) what are the forward estimates for funding of mosquito control, and for CLAG, in 2016-2017, and 2017-2018?

(a) The Department of Health (DoH) has allocated $2,071,419 for mosquito management programs across Western Australia (WA) in 2015-16. This amount does not include the cost of surveillance for mosquito-borne viruses or the salaries of staff in the DoH Environmental Health Directorate (EHD), who implement these programs.
(b) The Department of Health receives funding requests from Contiguous Local Authorities Groups (CLAGs) for assistance with health-driven mosquito management programs in their region.  In 2014-15 the Peel Region CLAG (comprising the Cities of Mandurah and Rockingham and the Shires of Murray and Waroona) sought and received funding totalling $77,434.
(c) The Department of Health's contribution to mosquito management programs in the Peel Region in 2014-15 totalled $313,029. This was used for purposes including: contributing to the purchase of mosquito larvicides, earthworks and publicity campaigns; a range of mosquito management and capacity building initiatives; and the use of a helicopter for aerial application of mosquito larvicides.
(d) Funding to continue mosquito control is included in the forward estimates, but exact amounts are still to be determined but will be similar to current allocations.
